All in his own time, actor turned Reggae singer Peter Lloyd invades the space of others hooking them with his soul massaging music. Lyrics as found in the first hit topping local charts – Oh Ma Dahling, Wake Dem Up, Perfect Body, Ready For Love, Walk Through Fire.
So much that only the ignorant would dare refer to him as the iron balloon some Jamaicans did years ago. “Lloyd’s ’Searching’ has put him in the spotlight, securing him top spots on local charts. Overseas, in New York Reggae Top 30 charts it entered at 28, and climbed 3 notches higher to number 25.
The multi-talented actor currently plays a lead role in the local television series ‘The Blackburns’, where he tries to buss as a singer ironically. In real life though the Rastafarian songwriter and singer is quickening his momentum internationally, a after a long and tedious journey, he snailed aong on with confidence in his own talent.
He first stole the number one slot with just his ‘Oh My Darling’ two years ago in Jamaica. Now after repeating that step with “Searching”, he is exnding his confidence to US territory. With renewed management force, his current single ‘Searching’ is snug in No.1 slot on the FIWI Choice & E.R. Charts respectively, from January 30 – February 6 (2010).
The single is written by Lloyd and produced by the Legendary Saxophonist Dean Fraser. It has premium airplay on various radio stations across North America including, WGFS and WATB in Atlanta, WAVS in South Florida, WVIP and VibeOneFM, New York and Big Links Radio in New Jersey.
The song is available on the Cannon Productions label. In January 2008, the performing artiste was titled the third sexiest hunk in Jamaica by the Caribbean’s media mogul Jamaica Gleaner Company (Entertainment section).
Peter was edged out of the coveted title by Ky-mani Marley in number two (2) and Jeffrey ‘Assassin’ Campbell in the number one (1) spot. However he was elected above Shaggy (4), Dancer Orville Hall (5), Grammy winner Sean Paul (7), Rising star heart throb Christopher Martin (8), The comical Craig ‘Leftside’ Parkes (9) and Orville ‘DaVille’ Thomas who controlled the top ten (10) spot.
Its anyone’s wonder if he will be edged out again as his steady climb in both his music and as an actor, keeps him close to the gym. He has already released his own tune on Perfect Body.
So far at a recently concluded creative workshop series by the OAaSIS International Foundation, he scored big with the students of Allman Town Primary, in his workshop.
